Brighton stats
When you look at the league table last nights result looked to be a bad result. When you look at the stats however that’s not quite the full story. They have only lost three more games than WH. They have conceded four less goals than WH. They have had some very good victories against Spurs, Everton, Leeds and Liverpool. They are short of goals but with an effective striker or two they would have been a lot higher up.

Awful result. Awful game. They played like Burnley. Couple of bruisers at the back, kicked us every chance they got- largely unpunished- and mostly just packed their half and their box and had ambitions only to hit us on the break.

To be fair to them, they do defend very well and we were unable to create many good chances. However they got pretty lucky a couple of times with deflections or poor passes at crucial points from us.

We were very disappointing though. Especially in the last 15 minutes. No urgency. Maybe we were a bit unlucky not to have something go our way but then we have had lucky games this season as well.

I just can’t fathom how we haven’t beaten that sorry lot even once in eight attempts. That truly is pathetic.

OG, well pointed out. Though it was a bad result for us those of us who look at more than simply the relative league positions were well aware of Brighton’s capabilities.

Luckily one of their more unenviable stats came to our help, namely the fact that they have dropped more points from a winning position than any other PL side to date this season.

I didn't think they played that well at all. They reeked of an end of season team with fuck all to play for. The trouble is, so did we.

What?

It was a game we needed to win, they had big players out and were there for the taking.

It was a poor performance and bad result whichever way you try and dress it up

With many post-mortem’s going on, it’s true they did play well. I was surprised at their level of effort, like a cup final for them.

Doesn't account for how toothless we were, oh and what's wrong with the match thread
